Processing Troubleshootig Guide
Overview
This guide will tell you how to track your problem and fix it, Please read it carefully, step-by-step, i do not guarantee 100% success, but you can expect some good results
Getting Started - Double Check The Installation
- Check all directories in "files" folder are chmod (permission) to 777
- Check there is not PHP error on any of your page
- Check user login
- Check Browsing issue
please fix all the above issues before going to next step
Modules Checkup
offcourse, the major part of video processing are its modules, make sure you have installed all of them
- Goto Admin Panel > Tool Box > Server Modules
- Now Make sure all your modules have Green Check instead of yellow alert
- Now Make Sure their Versions have also Green Check Sign
- Make sure your FFMPEG has required codecs
Exception : Mp4Box is for Mp4 output only, FFMPEG codecs may show wrong results sometimes
Please refer to your host to give you accurate paths and save them in website configurations, otherwise it may cause processing problem.
Crons Checkup
Clipbucket uses crons (automated script execution by server on scheduled basis) to convert videos, this is the most important and critical part of ClipBucket
- First install "ClipBucket Helper" plugin if it is not already installed
- Now goto ClipBucket Help > Cron Jobs
- Here you can see a ready made command all you have to do is to paste it in your cron jobs section
- Make sure, first two crons "Last Run" must NOT be more than 2 minutes OR it says "No date provided" , in both cases, your cron jobs are not working properly
- Alteast wait 2 ~ 3 minutes so cron can do its job first and do not upload any video during this time period
- If results are same, ie No date provided or More than 2 minutes, its time to fix your cron problem.
- If your crons are not giving you any error, skip to troubleshooting crons step
First ask your host whats the exact PHP Path (PHP 5 Path is a more apropriate word), they will provide you
- php
- /usr/bin/php
- /usr/local/bin/php
- /usr/bin/php5
- /usr/local/bin/php5
Now copy cron command from cron job helper and replace "php" -q with "path_given_by_host" -q , now wait few minutes 2 ~ 3 and then check in cron job help whats the result. if the results are still the same. follow these instructions
Troubleshooting Cron Jobs
- First set "cron job email" , please ask your host how to set cron email so whenever a cron is run, server sends you its result
- Now remove >/dev/null 2>&1 from your commands so crons generate an output and sent it to email
- Now wait few minutes until you get an email, if you receive no email, it means either crons are working fine
- if you get some error, ask your host or post the error on forums
Testing File Upload
- First upload small size video within 1 MB , avi or wmv
- Right after upload, make sure, your browser doesn't stuck, or your are unable to access your website, please ask your host for accurate PHP Path (that's a serious problem) and try accessing your website from different browsers.
- Once file is uploaded, wait atleast 1 minute to let it convert.
- if videos go ok, move to Testing Big File section
- if videos is still in processing mode, goto admin panel > videos manager > click on "File Conversion log" and check whats log saying,
- if log is empty, it means there is Background Conversion enabled on your host, please contact your host to enable "cli" and "exec" function
- if log is not empty, checks for the "conversion_status", if its blank or not listed, it means, FFMPEG is still working and wait
- if conversion_status is "completed", it means, it was a success, play video, if its keeeeeeeeeep buffering, skip to next step
- if video conversion_statis is failed or video is keep buffering, post the log on forums to get expert advice.
Testing Big File Upload
- Make sure you previous steps were successful
- Now goto admin panel > Tool Box > PHPInfo and check for valid configurations
- max_upload_size | post_max_size | maximum_execution_time | memory_limit
- 500 M or greater | 500 M or greater | 36000 or greater | 5000 or greater
- Now Upload file and test, follow "Testing file upload" step , skip first 2 step
